Our Mascot
Fortis the Dragon
During the 2006-07 school year, the first students to attend SAA participated in a school mascot contest. Many designs were submitted by the students, and a winner was chosen: Syracuse Arts Academy Dragons. The winning mascot was then re-designed by SAA parent Todd Harris, a professional Disney artist.
In 2014, a dragon's claw holding a medallion became a part of our school logo, representing the older students as well as the younger. With the generous help of Deanna Reeves, Jr. High Art Teacher, and Ben Borchert, a long-time parent volunteer, a new academic logo was also developed, which represents everything great about Syracuse Arts Academy.
The school also added a live mascot in 2014: Fortis, meaning brave, strong, courageous, and powerful - the perfect representative for Syracuse Arts Academy.
